Derek Proposes and she says yes!

Poundstone Repeats 03/08/10 – 2x America’s Strongest Man beats Big Z and pops the question. The Arnold Sports Festival is arguably the biggest weekend in strength sports and ASC athletes were represented in force. On the biggest stage in strongman, Derek Poundstone, showed the world that last year was no fluke. Poundstone captured his 2nd Arnold Strongman title, beating the current World’s Strongest Man and perennial Arnold Strongman Champion Zydrunas Savickas. “Big Z didn’t compete last year when Derek won and there are always critics,” said ASC VP Mike Johnston, “Poundstone is a force in the sport and the critics aren’t saying much now.”

In true championship fashion Derek also took the opportunity of the Arnold weekend to propose to his girlfriend, Kristin. After receiving his 2nd Arnold title on stage at the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum with the governor himself standing by, Derek got down on one knee and popped the question. “Kristin has been very supportive of my strongman career and I know I can’t do this forever. I want to prepare for the next phase of my life with the woman that has shared and endured this phase,” commented Poundstone.

Travis Ortmayer registered his highest placing two years in a rowat the Arnold finishing 3rd while Brian Shaw, David Ostlund and Nick Best finished 4th, 6th and 9th respectively.
